Professor Kyriaki Polychronopoulou joins the Palladium Global Science Award jury

The Palladium Global Science Award Jury welcomes Kyriaki Polychronopoulou, Professor of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, Acting Chair and Director of the Centre for Catalysis and Separations (CeCaS) at Khalifa University of Science and Technology in the United Arab Emirates.

Professor Kyriaki Polychronopoulou joins a panel of international experts from leading universities, research centres, scientific organisations and laboratories specialising in chemistry, materials science, energy, metallurgy and related fields of research.

She is an expert in catalysis and advanced materials, specialising in the energy transition and alternative fuels. Her research interests include catalytic materials for the energy sector, hydrogen production and clean fuel technologies.

Kyriaki Polychronopoulou is the founder and CEO of CeCaS subsidiary 44Fuels, which focuses on decarbonisation technologies. Prior to joining Khalifa University of Science and Technology, she completed her postdoctoral studies at Northwestern University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA).

She is ranked in the top 2% of scientists in the world by Stanford University and is a member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Academy of Scientists. She is involved in national research initiatives in the UAE and supports the development of unified science strategies.

The Palladium Global Science Award is an annual international science competition that seeks to identify scientific and practical ideas, research, development and future prospects for industrial applications of palladium, including new ways of using the metal and efforts to improve the technical and economic performance of existing technologies.

Submissions will be accepted until 31 July 2025. The jury will select five winners in three categories with a prize fund of $350,000.
