The MDX Research Center for Element Strategy (MDXES), Institute of Science Tokyo has been named as an official Partner of the Palladium Global Science Award in the inaugural year of the competition. Established in 2022, MDXES is part of the Institute of Integrated Research (IIR) at the Institute of Science Tokyo. Its core mission is to develop innovative electronic functional materials that can help to solve resource and environmental issues, deploying computational science and data science while focusing on abundant and environmentally friendly resources.
The Palladium Global Science Award Jury welcomes Kyriaki Polychronopoulou, Professor of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, Acting Chair and Director of the Centre for Catalysis and Separations (CeCaS) at Khalifa University of Science and Technology in the United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Dmitri Bessarabov, Professor at North-West University in South Africa and Director of the HySA Infrastructure Centre of Competence under the country’s Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, has joined the Palladium Global Science Award Jury.
The first annual Palladium Global Science Award competition is now live, with a total prize fund of $350,000. Scientists, startups and research groups involved in the study, analysis and development of new applications for palladium have to submit their entries until 31 July 2025. The China Precious Metals Industry Committee (CPMIC) is the main partner of the competition.
The Palladium Global Science Award has appointed Professor Francis Verpoort as the Chair of its International Expert Council. Professor Verpoort, a global expert in organometallic chemistry, currently serves as Chair Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Material Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology.
The China Precious Metals Industry Committee (CPMIC) is a subdivision of the China National Resources Recycling Association (CRRA), approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. As the representative of one of the industry’s key centres, the CPMIC actively supports the development of new technologies and international cooperation in the precious metals industry. The leading industry body played an important role in setting up and supporting the competition, and continues to promote its growth, expanding international participation and bringing new experts on board.
